AERANTHUS. This genus embraces about six species. See also Mystacidium. AERANTHUS Curnowianus (Curnow's). fl. yellowish-white; sepals and petals ligulate, acute; lip cuneate-obovate, retuse, with a median apiculus; spur filiform, five times as long as the lip. l. ligulate, emarginate, fleshy, dark, dull green, rather rough. Madagascar, 1883. AERANTHUS Grandidierianus (Grandidier's). A synonym of Angraecum Grandidierianum. AERANTHUS Leonis (Leon Humblot's).* fl. ivory-white, comparable to those of Angraecum sesquipedale, but having a much shorter spur, which is funnel-shaped at the base, then filiform and bent abruptly upwards. l. numerous, sword-like, stout, falcate, 8in. to 9in. long. AERANTHUS trichoplectron (hair-spurred). fl. white; sepals lanceolate, acuminate; petals linear, acute; lip broad, nearly conchoid at base, acuminate at top; spur long, filiform; peduncle one-flowered. February. l. 5in. long, 1/3in. wide, soft, linear, bidentate at apex. Madagascar.
