An'ani'as, the name of three biblical characters: 1. A disciple at Jerusalem who, with his wife Sapphira, kept back a part of the price of land they had sold, and told the disciples they were giving all. They were both struck dead for the crime (Acts v, 1-10). 2. A high priest at Jerusalem (Acts XXIII, 2). 3. A disciple at Damascus (Acts X, 10-17).
