Aqui'nas, SAINT THOMAS (1227-1274) a celebrated divine, who taught at Cologne, Rome, Bologna and Pisa. His scholars called him "The Angelic Doctor." The most important of his numerous works, which were all written in Latin, is the Summa Theologiae, the standard authority in the Roman Church. Aquinas was canonized by John XXII in 1323.
