BENEDICTINE: one of the most ancient of liqueurs in present use, having been continuously made since 665 A. D. It was originally prepared at the Benedictine monastery at Fecamp, Normandy, but since the French Revolution of 1792 it has been made by a commercial company. It is flavored with a great variety of herbs, seeds, etc.
