CARAWAY SEED

CARAWAY SEED: the highly aromatic seeds of a plant which grows wild in the meadows of Holland and Northern Germany, and is cultivated in many other countries, including the United States-especially California. They are employed in a variety of ways-as a culinary flavor, in confectionery, baking, etc., and in the perfumery and soap making industries. The roots of the Caraway plant were at one time eaten as a vegetable, and the young and tender leaves still occasionally serve for flavoring soups, etc.
