GILIBERTIA (named after J. E. Gilibert, 1741-1814, a French botanist and physician). ORD. Araliaceae. A genus comprising two or three species of ornamental evergreen shrubs, natives of tropical America. Flowers in terminal compound umbels. Leaves simple, entire. The species described below is, perhaps, the only one yet in cultivation. It thrives in a compost of sand, leaf mould, and light loam. Increased readily by cuttings, inserted in sand, in a gentle heat. GILIBERTIA brasiliensis (Brazilian). fl. greenish. February and March. l. leathery, dark green. h. 4ft. to 6ft.
