The falls in the river supply power for the factories, the most important of which are lime and cement works, lumber mills and manufactories of paper, shirts, collars and other goods. The village has a public library, a hospital, a state armory, two academies and several parks. Glens Falls was settled in 1763. Population in 1910, 15,243.
