go dah'va re, a large river of central India, which rises about 50 miles from the shore of the Indian Ocean, flows across the Deccan from the Western to the Eastern Ghats in a general southeasterly direction and, after being joined by several affluents, falls by three principal mouths into the Bay of Bengal, after a course of 900 miles. Before the river divides, three rocky barriers obstruct navigation.
