An interesting genus, containing sixteen species of erect greenhouse or half-hardy herbs, natives, for the most part, of Mexico and Central America. Flower-heads pedunculate, solitary or loosely corymbose. Inferior leaves rarely almost all opposite, superior ones rarely almost all alternate, entire, dentate or lobed.
