wah'hoo, the most important of the Hawaiian Islands. It has an area of 600 square miles and is quite generally fertile. The city of Honolulu, the capital of the territory, is situated upon the island. The surface is mountainous and contains several volcanic peaks and many inactive craters. The fertile land is in the valleys and on the low plains. The population in 1900 was 58,504. See HAWAII.
