Ta'bleland, an elevated section of land, with a level surface. A tableland is really a small plateau, which has been carved out by rivers. The surface is formed by a layer of rock which is harder than that below; for this reason it has resisted the action of the water and has been left in its original condition. Small sections of plateaus carved in this way are called mesas. See PLATEAU.
