Wace, was (1115-1184), an Anglo-Norman poet. Little is known of his life, except that he was born on the Island of Jersey, was named either Robert or Richard, and received the patronage of Henry II. His important works are Brut d'Angleterre and Roman de Rou. See BRUT.
