Yarmouth, yahr'muth, Nova Scotia, the county seat of Yarmouth co., situated on a small bay, 205 mi. s. w. of Halifax, and on the Dominion & Atlantic and the Halifax & Yarmouth railroads. It has manufactures of boots and shoes, cotton goods and also foundries and shipbuilding industries. It is an important fishing port and has quite an extensive trade. It has also become a prominent summer resort. Population in 1901, 6430.
