Yaws, the name in use in the British West Indies, on the West Coast of Africa and in tropical countries, wherever negroes have been taken, for a peculiar, contagious disease of the skin, marked by yellow spots and by a reddish, fungous growth beneath them. Mercury is the active ingredient of all West Indian remedies for this disease.
